Proton Products InteliSENS® CG Series Capacitance Meters are designed to continuously measure cable insulation capacitance on insulation extrusion lines, allowing manufacturers to control the capacitance characteristics of their cable insulation.

Capacitive probes are available to suit different cable diameters and are designed to be immersed in a post-extrusion water cooling trough. For applications where a water trough is not used, high-pressure water can be pumped into the capacitive probe to coat the cable in water; Ceramic lined end caps are available to seal smaller diameter cables.

Rugged, compact and durable design, multiple communication options and easy integration with other systems make the InteliSENS® CG Series an excellent and economical choice.

The cable runs through the InteliSENS® CG capacitance probe connected to the InteliSENS® CAP interface box signal processor to analyze capacitance measurements using an advanced auto-balanced bridge system, with complex FPGA processing capabilities noise to ensure capacitance measurements do not drift.

The InteliSENS® CG series probe is equipped with an IP65 rated InteliSENS® signal processor (CAP interface box) and a 1.5m industrial connection cable. On PLC or computer controlled production lines, the CAP interface box can communicate directly via RS232. Optional PROFIBUS or Ethernet/IP communications interfaces can also be specified at the time of ordering.

An optional NEXiS® CS2G-CAP standalone interface display and PI feedback controller are available as an accessory for the CG series capacitance meter. NEXiS® CS2G-CAP communicates via CANbus with any CAP interface box of the InteliSENS® CG system to control the insulation extruder or the capct drive to control the insulation capacitance. NEXiS® CS2G-CAP also provides a pair of analog voltage outputs indicating capacitance and capacitance errors as well as 3 relay outputs to signal exceeding capacitance tolerance.
