Proton Products' NEXiS ® CS2G series of controllers are used on insulated wire or other extrusion production lines.
The NEXiS ® CS2G series controller connects to Proton Products' diameter gauges as well as speed and length gauges to measure insulation diameter and line speed, respectively. These measurements are then fed into a PI feedback controller with a floating and fully isolated output that can be used to control an insulation extruder or capct drive.

Proton Products' NEXiS ® CS2G series of controllers are used on insulated wire or other extrusion production lines.
The NEXiS ® CS2G series controller connects to Proton Products' diameter gauges as well as speed and length gauges to measure insulation diameter and line speed, respectively. These measurements are then fed into a PI feedback controller with a floating and fully isolated output that can be used to control an insulation extruder or capct drive.
Therefore, the insulation diameter is actively controlled and kept within tolerances using the NEXiS ® CS2G controller.
Operating mode
Measure cold diameter
The NEXiS ® CS2G is connected to the Cold DG diameter gauge behind the water cooling trough. Cold diameter measurement is used to control the extruder so that the final insulation diameter is kept within tolerance. Because the cold diameter measurement is away from the extruder, the response time of this control system is relatively slow (and depends on the line speed), but shrinkage compensation is not required.
Measure cold diameter
The NEXiS ® CS2G is connected to the Hot DG diameter gauge in front of the water radiator. The cooling shrinkage compensation is set by the operator and used in conjunction with the Hot diameter measurement to control the extruder so that the final insulation diameter is kept within tolerance. Because the hot diameter measurement is located close to the extruder, the response time of this control system is relatively fast.
