Introducing MT8821C

The MT8821C radio communications analyzer is designed for R&D of mobile/user equipment (UE), such as smartphones, tablets, and IoT modules. It builds on the technologies of its popular predecessor, the MT8820C, which is popular with UE and chipset vendors worldwide.

The new MT8821C supports all technologies, from LTE-Advanced to 3G/2G, with easy-to-use measurement functions for effective RF tuning and testing in one device.

It even supports LTE-A 2CC 4x4 MIMO and 4CC 2x2 MIMO in a single box as well as LTE-U/LAA.

Additionally, it supports LTE-A 4CC 4x4MIMO or 6CC 2x2MIMO by nesting two boxes and 5CC 4x4 MIMO by three boxes.

With built-in support for UE RF TRX tests compliant with various communications standards, such as LTE Unlicensed (LTE-U/LAA) in the 5 GHz band, the MT8821C is the ideal test solution for every measurement situation.

Supported communication technologies include LTE/LTE-Advanced, Cat-M1/NB-IoT, W-CDMA/HSPA, GSM/EGPRS and TD-SCDMA/HSPA.

One-touch Setup and PASS/FAIL Judgment

The MT8821C simplifies measurements with preset measurement parameters based on RF test cases specified by 3GPP. In addition, it automatically performs PASS/FAIL evaluation of measurement results under standard test conditions.

Remote control sample tool

MT8821C can be configured in an automated test system using GPIB or Ethernet for remote control. Anritsu also offers an automated remote control sample tool that complies with the 3GPP RF test standard called ATS.

Operation is as simple as selecting the required test case from the RF test items in the remote control sample tool. Even new users can easily configure automated test environments, reducing training time and increasing productivity.

Flexible parameter settings

The MT8821C runs TRX measurements using parameters specified by the 3GPP/3GPP2 RF test standard. Additionally, flexible parameter settings support both simple protocol and RF parameter testing.

RF calibration

With high-speed measurement modes supported by chipset vendors, the MT8821C increases measurement efficiency by reducing the time required for chipset and mobile device RF calibration.

Advanced GUI for efficient operability

The new MT8821C's next-generation window-based GUI and large, easy-to-use touch panel greatly enhance operability and visibility compared to other devices. Users can operate the MT8821C by simply touching and swiping the screen, and benefit from the ease and speed of one-touch switching between grouped/individual chart lists and sketch/outline results display. detail.

Integrated Windows Server PC to test IP data throughput

With an integrated Windows 7 PC, you can perform IP data transmission testing without the need for an external host PC.

Built-in flexible internal RF interface

The MT8821C features an integrated internal RF front panel with RF switches and splitters to eliminate the need to use an external combiner or tester, thereby simplifying test setup and calibration. The signals can be combined to perform measurements or output each set of carrier and MIMO downlink signals to separate ports for OTA testing. It even has a port to inject a signal from a jammer or output an uplink signal to an external spectrum analyzer for out-of-band spurious measurements.

Because the new MT8821C's remote commands maintain good backward compatibility with the legacy MT8820 series, the MT8821C supports previously used remote tools, helping to reduce costs when configuring automated test environments.

Anritsu also offers an upgrade roadmap from MT8820C to MT8821C, taking full advantage of existing MT8820C hardware and software to maximize the previous investment in MT8820C and reduce the cost of MT8821C.

Supports dynamic spectrum sharing (DSS) condition in conjunction with MT8000A

In DSS, spectrum is intelligently allocated to both 4G and 5G by the scheduler, depending on the requirement. This is a much more efficient use of spectrum.


MT8000A can measure throughput under DSS under several NR/LTE allocation conditions.
